[Razzies] 2025 Nominations for '24 Movies

At the Dawn of a Dark Era,

In this new and uncharted world where bad is good, dumb is smart and criticism is soundly forbidden, the Razzies stand (or sit) ready to rumble. Just don't ask us to kneel!

Among the 2024 titles competing for the $4.97 gold spray-painted Worst Picture statuette are:

• A comic-book-based movie originally released a year ago that spent the rest of 2024 being touted everywhere as “a serious Razzie contender” - Madame Web

• A big budget video-game-based bomb that racked up 90% negative reviews at R.T. (and suffered an estimated $100+ million loss) - Borderlands

• A highly anticipated comic-book based sequel that had its protagonists express their mental illness and villainy - by singing and dancing! Joker: Folie a Deux

• A love letter to the 40th President that “borrowed” its plot structure from Citizen Kane (with Jon Voight imitating Bullwinkle’s nemesis Boris Badenov as its narrator) - Reagan

• Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis (aka WTF the Movie) - an incoherent $120 million mess from the fabled director of The Godfather

Actors nominated for less-than-stellar star turns in 2024 include Oscar® winners Joaquin Pheonix, Cate Blanchett, Lady Gaga and one of Trump’s newly appointed “Ambassadors to Hollywood,” Jon Voight (who has a near-record four 2024 titles listed behind his name as Worst Supporting Actor).

Results were determined by emailing ballots to 1,202 Razzie Members (movie buffs, film critics and journalists) from 49 US States and about two dozen foreign countries who chose five top contenders in each of nine categories. The 45th Annual Razzie “Winners” (for whom there will literally be no raspberry red carpet this year) will be unveiled by video press release on the now traditional date of “Oscar Eve,” Saturday, March 1.
